Prophecy Magazine

ART DIRECTION / BRANDING / LAYOUT DESIGN / PHOTOGRAPHY / WAREDROBE DESIGN / HANDCRAFTED TYPOGRAPHY

This couture fashion magazine draws inspiration from the 2021 film Dune, capturing the transformative journey of Paul Atreides from innocent boyhood to formidable leader, all through the lens of high-class fashion. Step into the world of the year 10,191 and walk in Paul’s shoes, immersing yourself in a collection that embodies both power and elegance.

With just a four-week window to bring this concept to life, the project required a versatile skill set. From studio photography and set design to wardrobe curation, post-production editing, and layout design, I took on the roles of art director and talent acquisition to craft an editorial experience that mirrors the grandeur and intensity of Dune. The process was both challenging and exhilarating, resulting in a fashion narrative as bold and intricate as the story that inspired it.

Costume design:

Issue 10191 of Prophecy is filled with intricate clothing details, making the editorial completely distinct to any other. Taking inspiration from the Dune universe, such as the infamous “still suit”, I built couture style clothing that supported the narrative within the editorial magazine.

Photography:

I photographed and directed models within one hour studio sessions, experimenting with multiple iterations of the specific concept. Goals included creating lighting that would ignite the idea of high sun in a dry desert environment.

Iterations:

Further development of set design and photography to achieve desired outcomes. Main goals were to achieve unison in visuals across the developing narrative within the editorial. Final outcomes include a darkened, backlit background to add more emphasis to clothing details and unify diverse outcomes.

Crafting:

I handcrafted and photographed the final editorial magazine.
